Camping above the valley on the second night, which none of us expected to be the high point. Not perfect — the hotel on the first night was a clear step below the rest of the trip — but it didn't take much away from the rest.

Our permits being sorted before we landed, so we rode on day one instead of queuing. Not perfect — the Guwahati leg took five hours in traffic and ate most of a day — but it didn't take much away from the rest.
