Our permits being sorted before we landed, so we rode on day one instead of queuing. Not perfect — messages before the trip took a day or two to get answered — but it didn't take much away from the rest.

How little of it was scheduled — we were asked each morning what we felt like. Not perfect — the Guwahati leg took five hours in traffic and ate most of a day — but it didn't take much away from the rest.

The Siang running high enough to be properly exciting without anyone feeling out of their depth. Not perfect — the water was too high to run the section we'd booked for, so we did a tamer stretch — but it didn't take much away from the rest.
