Two nights in a Nongriat homestay where the food was better than anything we ate in Shillong. Not perfect — the hotel on the first night was a clear step below the rest of the trip — but it didn't take much away from the rest.

Our permits being sorted before we landed, so we rode on day one instead of queuing. Against that, a permit check held us up for half a day and nobody had warned us it was likely, and for what we paid I'd expect the whole trip to be at the level of its best day.

The mechanic who rebuilt a derailleur by torchlight and had us moving by seven. Against that, messages before the trip took a day or two to get answered, and for what we paid I'd expect the whole trip to be at the level of its best day.

Appreciated, Harsh. We've taken the point about pacing and have cut one drive out of this itinerary entirely.
The drive out to Dawki, where we were on the water by eight and had it almost to ourselves. The whole thing was organised without ever feeling packaged, and we were never once left wondering what happened next.

There were two more people in the group than we'd been told to expect, and we were told about it far too late to plan around. Riding out of Ziro with a support van that turned up exactly where it said it would was genuinely good, which made the rest more frustrating.

Abhishek, I'm sorry — this isn't the trip we sell. We should have told you far earlier, and I've changed how we brief groups when conditions turn. Please contact us directly; I'd like to put it right.
How little of it was scheduled — we were asked each morning what we felt like. Not perfect — so little was fixed that some days drifted, which won't suit everyone — but it didn't take much away from the rest.
